Nano-scaled Cr23C6-type carbide can precipitate in the SLMed FeCoCrNiC0.05 being annealed at 1073 K, leading to higher yielding strength. The precipitation behavior can be successfully predicted by the modified Avarmi formula. The strengthening effect can be quantitatively calculated by considering solid solution hardening, precipitation hardening and cell structure hardening.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
FeCoCrNiC
2:05 HEA was fabricated by SLM and then annealed at various conditions to study precipitation behavior and strengthening mechanisms. Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Pre-alloyed powder with a mean particle size of about 45 μm was used.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
SLM machine (FS271M, Farsoon, China), XRD, TEM (FEI Tecnai G2 F20), SEM (FEI Quanta 650), EPMA (JXA-8530F, Japan), Instron 3369 machine, Vickers hardness tester, and nanoindenter.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Samples were annealed at 1073 K for
5:5–14 h followed by cooling in air. Microstructural characterization and mechanical tests were conducted. Data Analysis Methods:
Precipitation kinetics was described using Avrami formula. Strengthening mechanisms were analyzed based on microstructure-related equations.
