研究目的
Investigating the application of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for inline weld depth measurement in laser beam welding with high brilliance laser sources.
研究成果
The application of OCT allows inline monitoring of the weld depth using both a multimode and a highly focused single-mode laser beam. The study also identified various influences on the signal, such as material-specific melt pool dynamics and characteristic reflection and absorption properties. The findings suggest that OCT is a promising tool for process monitoring in laser beam welding, especially for applications requiring precise weld depth control.
研究不足
The study identified that the accuracy of the measurement results is significantly affected by process influences such as metal vapor escaping from the keyhole. Additionally, the probability of a valid measurement value from the keyhole is lower when the measuring beam and the processing beam have a focus diameter in the same order of magnitude.
