研究目的
To assess the efficacy, safety, complications, and results of Ho: YAG laser urethrotomy (HLU) performed in our hospital for the management of USD.
研究成果
HLU is minimally invasive and seems to be an effective and safe management option for primary, short, urethral strictures. The less bleeding, short hospital admission and the possibility of treatment as a day-clinic under local anesthesia and negligible complications are other advantages.
研究不足
The study was retrospective without a control arm, had a short-term follow-up, and a small sample size.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study was a retrospective analysis of 138 patients treated with HLU for USD. The methodology included evaluating mean operation time, stricture recurrence rate, and post-operation Qmax and complications.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Patients were selected based on diagnosis of USD, with exclusion criteria being lower than one-year follow-up or unavailable UF report.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
A 22 Fr cystoscope with zero degrees lens and 550-nm Ho: YAG laser fiber was used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The stricture site was incised using the star-like method under spinal anesthesia, followed by urethroscopy and catheterization.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
SPSS software version 18.0 was used for data analysis, with quantitative data indicated as mean and standard deviation and qualitative variables as frequency and percent.
