研究目的
To compare the efficacy and safety of a novel thulium fiber laser for endoscopic enucleation of the prostate with monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate in patients with smaller glands (<80 cc).
研究成果
Thulium fiber laser enucleation of the prostate with novel thulium fiber laser in patients with smaller prostate glands (<80 cc) is comparable to transurethral resection of the prostate in voiding parameters improvement and complication rates. At the same time, the technique allows for a more substantial prostate-specific antigen decrease, indicating more complete removal of adenoma.
研究不足
The study was limited by the fact that surgeries were performed by two different surgeons, a relatively small number of patients, and a short follow-up period. The reoperation rate was not estimated due to the short follow-up period.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A prospective comparison was conducted between thulium fiber laser enucleation of the prostate (ThuFLEP) and monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in patients with smaller prostate glands (<80 cc).
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Patients with lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia were included, with prostate volume <80 cc, International Prostate Symptom Score >20, and maximum urine flow rate <10 mL/s.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
ThuFLEP was performed using the FiberLase thulium fiber laser with a 600-μm laser fiber, and TURP was performed using a Valleylab electrical current generator.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
All patients were assessed preoperatively, and at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively for functional outcomes and complications.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0, with P < 0.05 considered statistically significant.
