研究目的
to propose a new approach to developing management instructions for tree plantations, simultaneously for all discount rates and site classes, aiming at economically optimal plantation management.
研究成果
The study presented a new one-step procedure for developing 'traditional' management instructions for tree plantations when the aim is to maximize the profitability of plantation management. The tests showed that the advices given by the instructions result in almost equally profitable management as stand-level optimizations. The instructions are well in line with previous research on economically optimal stand management.
研究不足
The study assumes that thinning from above is the optimal type of thinning, based on preliminary optimizations and previous studies. The instructions aim at economically profitable forest management, which may not always be the only or the most important management objective of forestry.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study proposed a new approach to developing management instructions for tree plantations, using particle swarm optimization (PSO) to optimize the coefficients of three equation models for thinning basal area, thinning intensity, and rotation diameter.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
A total of 29 plots established in the larch (Larix olgensis A. Henry) plantations of the Heilongjiang province of China were selected for the study.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Not explicitly mentioned.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The PSO algorithm was used to optimize the parameters of the models for thinning basal area, thinning intensity, and final felling diameter, with the objective of maximizing the average net present value (NPV) of the management schedules.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The NPV was calculated to infinity, assuming that rotations similar as the simulated one are repeated to infinity.
