The experimental setup for 2 × 2 MIMO parallel VLC system based on μLED-based PDs involved using two 405 nm violet LDs as transmitters and μLED-based PDs as optical receivers. Signals generated by an arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) or pulsed pattern generator (PPG) were combined with direct current (DC) by two bias-tees to drive the LDs. The violet-light beams were collimated by transmitter lenses (Tx lenses) and transmitted through 1-m free-space distance. Each LD was modulated by the OOK modulation scheme. The modulated lights were aligned to the μLED-based array PDs at the receiver, converting optical signals to electrical signals for evaluation of optoelectronic properties and communication performances.
