研究目的
To evaluate the clinical attachment level (CAL) gain of Er:YAG, Er,Cr; YSGG, Nd:YAG; and diode laser (DL) as monotherapy or adjunctive to scaling and root planing (SRP) of chronic periodontitis by network meta-analysis (NMA).
研究成果
Laser-assisted periodontal treatment has better clinical effectiveness in CAL gain than mechanical SRP. DL adjunctive to SRP might be the most appropriate treatment for chronic periodontitis considering CAL gain at 3- and 6-months follow-up. Er:YAG as monotherapy was significantly effective compared to SRP alone at 3 months post-operation.
研究不足
The study was limited to English and Chinese language publications, and the number of reports for each laser type was less than 8. The included studies had variations in the assessment of CAL gain and the application parameters of different lasers, which could influence the results.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Network meta-analysis (NMA) was performed to compare the clinical effectiveness of different lasers applied in SRP for chronic periodontitis.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) were searched from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Ovid, Science Direct, Wan Fang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases up to September
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
20 Er:YAG laser, Er,Cr:YSGG laser, Nd:YAG laser, and diode laser (DL) were analyzed.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Standard mean differences and 95% confidence intervals were calculated for CAL gain. The random effects NMA were performed in STATA software.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The ranking probabilities for each intervention were estimated according to the Surface Under the Cumulative Ranking Curve (SUCRA).
