研究目的
To assess the efficacy and safety of 595-nm pulsed dye laser (PDL) in treating Iranian pediatric patients with port wine stains (PWS) and to identify possible factors predicting the response rate and the optimal number of sessions.
研究成果
595-nm PDL is an effective and relatively safe therapeutic approach for treating Iranian pediatric PWS patients. V1 involvement and a marked improvement within the first five sessions are favorable prognostic factors.
研究不足
The study used before-after photos to evaluate treatment response, which may not be as accurate as quantitative measurements. The relatively low number of included patients could affect the study's power.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A prospective study was conducted using the 595-nm tunable PDL (Candela V Beam Platinum) on pediatric patients with PWS.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Twenty-seven pediatric patients with head and neck PWS were recruited.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Candela V Beam Platinum laser with a 7 mm spot size,
4:5 to 3 milliseconds pulse duration, fluence ranging from 9–13 J/cm2, and dynamic cooling spray. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Patients underwent 4–10 treatment sessions with a 4–6-weeks interval. Treatment response was evaluated using Investigator Global Assessment (IGA) and Patient Global Assessment (PGA).
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 21.
