研究目的
To investigate whether an fs laser, emitting bursts of 28 pulses at 148 MHz frequency, behaves still like a traditional fs laser in single-pulse mode or already like a nanosecond laser in terms of ablation efficiency and quality.
研究成果
The fs laser in 28-pulse-burst mode achieved about 2/3 of the nanosecond laser efficiency regardless of the material and produced similar surface morphologies and melt burrs as the nanosecond laser, indicating that the underlying ablation mechanism of a burst-mode laser emitting 28 burst pulses at 148 MHz frequency is already related closely to nanosecond laser ablation.
研究不足
The study is limited to the comparison of ablation efficiency and quality between fs lasers in single-pulse mode, fs lasers in burst mode, and ns lasers on silicon, stainless steel, and copper. The impact of burst mode on other materials or under different conditions is not explored.
