研究目的
To evaluate the predictive factors associated with local recurrence after Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) for brain metastases.
研究成果
Incompletely ablated and recurrent tumoral lesions were associated with a higher risk of treatment failure and were the major predicting factors for local recurrence. Systemic therapy within 3 months after LITT was found to be a protective factor regarding local recurrence.
研究不足
The study is limited by its retrospective nature and the lack of histological confirmation of the recurrent lesions. The classification between tumor recurrence and radiation necrosis was based on radiological findings.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Retrospective study analyzing consecutive patients with brain metastases treated with LITT.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
61 consecutive patients with 82 lesions treated with LITT from December 2012 to January
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
20 Visualase Thermal Therapy System (Medtronic, Dublin, Ireland) and NeuroBlate System (Monteris Medical Corporation, Plymouth, Minnesota).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Lesions were categorized based on radiological features, and the extent of ablation was calculated using MRI scans.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Kaplan-Meier method for time to local recurrence, Cox-regression model for predictors of local recurrence.
