研究目的
Investigating the efficacy of laser therapy as a newer, safer modality of treatment for onychomycosis.
研究成果
Laser therapy provides an alternative option with rapid procedure duration, virtually no side effects, no blood monitoring and few contraindications. However, conflicting evidence is shown in a variety of papers, and studies with longer follow-up periods suggest onychomycosis relapse in those treated with laser, which warrants further investigation. Oral terbinafine hydrochloride is still considered the most effective, proven, long-term treatment for onychomycosis in patients without contraindications to oral antifungal therapy.
研究不足
The paper notes conflicting evidence in various studies, poor study designs with small study samples, limited output with no clear protocol, and studies with longer follow-up periods suggesting onychomycosis relapse in those treated with laser.
