The decoration of SnO2 with Ag QDs significantly enhances the synergetic charge transfer, diminishing the photo-induced electron-hole reunion and resulting in a facile and efficient degradation of RhB, with a rate double that of pristine SnO2. This method of metal QDs-modified semiconductor synthesis can meet the requirements of industrial effluent treatment.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A straightforward and mild hydrothermal procedure was used for the synthesis of Ag QD decorated 2D SnO2 nano?akes. The photocatalysts were systematically investigated using UV–Vis, XRD, electron microscopy (SEM, HR-TEM), EDX, XPS and FTIR.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The photocatalytic activity was evaluated for the abatement of water pollutant rhodamine B (RhB) under light irradiation.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Tin (II) chloride dihydrate, glucose, silver nitrate, and organic dye (RhB) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, and hexadecylamine (HDA) was procured from TCI Chemicals.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Ag QDs/2D-SnO2 nano?akes were synthesized by adding tin chloride dihydrate, silver nitrate, and HDA to deionized water, followed by the addition of glucose and stirring. The mixture was then oven heated. The photocatalytic reactions were conducted under artificial solar irradiation.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The photocatalytic reduction kinetics of RhB were determined under an artificial solar illuminator in aqueous media, and degradation kinetics were measured with a UV–Vis absorption spectrophotometer.
