研究目的
The objective of this pilot study was to evaluate the cerebral e?ects of laser stimulation and traditional needle acupuncture in patients after stroke.
研究成果
Changes in local cerebral oxygen saturation could be quantified, although confirmation may only be expected after extensive follow-up studies. Trends in the direction of an increase in local cerebral oxygen saturation levels were detectable; therefore, extensive follow-up studies may be justified.
研究不足
The study was not registered as a clinical trial, and the reporting does not fully follow the CONSORT and STRICTA recommendations. The number of patients (n = 17) was not large, resulting in a heterogeneous gender and age distribution. The activation of the different acupuncture schemes (scalp, ear, and body) could not be quantified in terms of their contribution to changes in rSO2 values.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A cross-over study design was used to compare the effects of needle acupuncture and laser stimulation on regional cerebral blood oxygen saturation (rSO2) in stroke patients.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Seventeen stroke patients (12 female and five male; mean age ± SD:
3:5 ± 9 years) were randomly selected in a stroke rehabilitation hospital. List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Disposable needles (0.30 × 30 mm; Huan Qiu, Suzhou, China) for body and scalp acupuncture and disposable pressing needles (0.22 × 1.5 mm; Wujiang City Cloud & Dragon Medical Device Co., Ltd, Wujiang, China) for ear acupuncture were used. A Weberneedle Combi-Laser system (Weber Medical, Lauenfoerde, Germany) was used for laser stimulation.
4:30 × 30 mm; Huan Qiu, Suzhou, China) for body and scalp acupuncture and disposable pressing needles (22 × 5 mm; Wujiang City Cloud & Dragon Medical Device Co., Ltd, Wujiang, China) for ear acupuncture were used. A Weberneedle Combi-Laser system (Weber Medical, Lauenfoerde, Germany) was used for laser stimulation. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
4. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow: Patients’ rSO2 values were recorded before, during, and after needle acupuncture and laser stimulation.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Data were analyzed with Sigma Plot 14.0 software (Systat Software Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Testing was performed with a one way repeated measures analysis of variance and a Kruskal–Wallis one way analysis of variance on ranks.
