To propose and demonstrate a reflective optics, the axiparabola, that extends the production of diffraction-free beams to high-peak-power and broadband laser pulses, and to use it for generating a plasma waveguide.

The axiparabola enables the generation of long-focal-depth, high-lateral-resolution beams. It was used to produce a focal line with a transverse size below 7 μm and intensity beyond 4 × 10^17 W cm^-2, and to generate a 10 mm plasma channel guiding a 20 TW laser over nearly 10 Rayleigh lengths.

The focal depth is smaller than the design parameter due to the illumination beam's smaller spatial size than the ideal top-hat used in the design. The peak intensity is reduced by the same factor as the length of the focal line is increased. The experimental peak intensity appears reduced by about 50% compared to the simulation, attributed to wavefront aberrations.
