研究目的
Investigation on Ti6Al4V laser metal deposition using Taguchi based grey approach to optimize the process considering tensile strength, clad hardness, clad grain size and clad porosity as performance characteristics.
研究成果
The laser scan speed predominantly influences the microstructural outcome. A combination of parameter which yielded fine dendritic structure greatly favored the mechanical properties of the LMDed samples. The best possible set of process parameter is determined to obtain better machining performance is A1B2 which means the power is at 1500 W and scan speed is at 600 mm/min by both Taguchi based Grey approach. The results indicated that laser based metal deposition could be a viable solution as a repairing technique for extending the service life of Ti-6Al-4V components without affecting the inherent properties of the alloy.
研究不足
The study focuses on the influence of laser power and laser scan speed on the thermal gradient and cooling rate, but other factors that might affect the LMD process are not considered. The experiments are conducted with a limited range of laser power and scan speed.
