研究目的
To develop an efficient light outcoupling strategy to improve the efficiency and viewing characteristics of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) for display application.
研究成果
The study presented a light outcoupling strategy that improves the optical performance of OLEDs. The hybrid mode formed by integrating a photonic crystal structure on the semitransparent metal electrode enhanced the light outcoupling efficiency and viewing characteristics of monochrome devices. For white OLEDs, the outcoupling efficiency was slightly declined compared to conventional structures, but the viewing angle characteristics were improved. The photonic crystal structure also contributed to longer device lifetimes by protecting organic films.
研究不足
The sensitivity of blue light to thickness variation and the mismatch of the wavelength coupled by hybrid mode and emitting wavelength are noted as limitations. The study suggests that the thickness of layers in the photonic crystal structure needs optimization for different colors.
