研究目的
The objective of this research is to study the use of electroless silver plating for SLM printed metal parts finishing. Silver coatings produced in the laboratory with and without SAMs have been investigated and were compared to commercial coatings. The parameters for obtaining high-performance silver plating for AM AlSi10Mg disk-shaped specimens produced by SLM are discussed.
研究成果
The research demonstrated that electroless silver plating can be successfully applied to AM-SLM AlSi10Mg parts to improve their surface quality and appearance. Both laboratory-developed and commercial coatings showed good quality and satisfactory appearance, with the laboratory process being environmentally friendly and simpler. The study suggests that such coatings can be used for decorative purposes, including replicas of ancient artifacts for museum exhibitions.
研究不足
The study acknowledges the high roughness of the 3D-printed AlSi10Mg specimens and the submicron thickness of the SAM layer as factors that did not significantly influence the deposition rate of silver. The comparison between laboratory-developed and commercial coatings was not trivial due to the significant difference in coating thickness.
