研究目的
To demonstrate the unexploited potential in integrated microwave photonics technology to address the major challenges associated with mobile and wireless communication networks, focusing on the objectives of the third COST Action CA16220 working group.
研究成果
Integrated microwave photonics solutions, particularly optoelectronic oscillators made by integrated microwave technology with low phase noise in the millimeter-wave range, can meet the requirements of the upcoming 5G network. These solutions offer lower energy consumption, less complexity, and a lower price, making them suitable for future mobile and wireless communication networks.
研究不足
The high signal attenuation in the millimeter-wave region, particularly problematic for long-distance connections due to weather events, and the current lack of low-phase-noise oscillators in the millimeter-wave range that would allow spectral efficiency similar to 4G.
