To design and test a conformal permeable toroidal antenna that operates in both a vertically polarized monopole mode and circularly polarized (CP) dipole mode in the UHF frequency range, using advanced ferromagnetic laminate composite materials.

A permeable toroidal magnetic flux channel antenna less than 2 cm thick and of 43 cm outer diameter fed by a mode-former designed to operate from 200 to 400 MHz attains a measured gain ranging from 3 to 2 dBi through at least 500 MHz. If high-performance tailor-made components were used, an additional 2 dB increase in gain is plausible.
