1:Experimental Design and Method Selection
The Ni-NPs were incorporated in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to produce thin film-based saturable absorber (SA) and integrated into an erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) ring cavity to generate passively Q-switching.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources
Ni-NPs suspension was prepared by dispersion the nanoparticles in CH3(CH2)11OSO3Na solution. Then, the prepared Ni suspension is composited with PVA to construct Ni-doped PVA film as a fiber-compatible SA.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials
Broadband source (Thorlab SLD1550s-A1), optical signal analyzer (OSA, Yokogawa AQ6370C), CW Nd: YAG laser, 10 cm focal length lens, cuvette of 1 mm path length, digital oscilloscope (Tektronix DPO3052), InGaAs photodiode (Thorlab DET08CFC), optical power meter (EXFO FPM-300).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow
The Ni-NPs suspension was put in a cuvette of 1 mm path length to use in this study. The closed aperture and open aperture were used for the determination of the nonlinear refractive index (n2) and the nonlinear absorption coefficient (β).
5:Data Analysis Methods
The nonlinear properties are determined by fitting these normalized curves and using specific equations for nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient.
