研究目的
To investigate the existence and evolution of fast-decaying Bessel modes in cylindrical hollow waveguides and in free space, and to obtain a square-integrable solution of the Bessel field distribution.
研究成果
The paper concludes that fast-decaying Bessel modes, which are square-integrable, quasi propagation invariant, and T-asymmetric, can be derived and satisfy Maxwell's equations. These modes offer a new basis set for the decomposition of the field into physically realistic components and preserve position information in semi-infinite cylindrical waveguides, enabling the measurement of propagation length from the entrance.
研究不足
The study focuses on cylindrical symmetric hollow waveguides and does not extend to non-cylindrical symmetric magnetic modes (TM1n, TM2n, TM3n, etc.). The analytical solutions provided are not valid for these modes due to their azimuthal dependence.
