研究目的
To optimize arbitrary three-dimensional metamaterial unit cells in the optical regime for phase-gradient metasurface applications, achieving high transmission magnitudes comparable to all-dielectric designs.
研究成果
The study successfully demonstrated the use of a generalized MOLACO algorithm to discover unintuitive and highly transmissive metallodielectric structures for phase-gradient metasurface applications. The resulting metasurface achieved a theoretical first-order diffraction efficiency of 84%, comparable to all-dielectric designs, challenging the notion that highly transmissive designs cannot be achieved with metals.
研究不足
The study is limited to the mid-wave infrared (MWIR) regime and focuses on a specific fabrication technique (Membrane Projection Lithography). The exploration of the design space may not cover all possible unintuitive structures due to computational constraints.
