研究目的
Investigating the synthesis and stabilization of fluorescent gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) using engineered protein scaffolds for application in bio-hybrid light-emitting diodes (Bio-HLEDs) as color down-converting filters or bio-phosphors.
研究成果
The engineered protein scaffold allowed the precise control of the size and place of AuNCs with improved photoluminescence quantum yield reaching dual emission towards white color, shielded the AuNCs against photo-degradation, and encoded anisotropic emission of the AuNCs. Devices prepared with oxygen-free bio-phosphors and operating under inert conditions showed stabilities over 800 h.
研究不足
The stability of the Bio-HLEDs under ambient conditions was limited to 10 h, related to photo-induced reductive elimination of colloidal gold from the AuNCs. Further protein design efforts are needed to enhance the photoluminescence quantum yield and better shield against oxygen.
