In summary, we have successfully prepared VOxQDs by a one-step solvothermal method using VCl3 powder as the precursor. The most favorable temperature and solvent for VOxQDs synthesis was confirmed. According to the analysis of the TEM data, it could be concluded that the average lateral diameter of VOxQDs were 3.39 ± 0.57 nm. Kinetic studies indicated that the as-prepared VOxQDs had excellent affinity towards H2O2 that the Km value was 0.0843 mM, which was 43 times lower than that of HRP. On this basis, a highly sensitive and selective colorimetric sensor to detect H2O2 and glucose was designed. The limit of detection was estimated to be 0.42 and 1.7 μM for H2O2 and glucose, respectively. The proposed colorimetric sensor was successfully applied to clinical serum testing. All of our results demonstrated the as-prepared VOxQDs possessed great potential applications in bio-detection and clinical detection.
