研究目的
To compile the shortcomings and disadvantages of the published detection systems preventing their commercial application and searching the possible solutions.
研究成果
Despite the discussed drawbacks, the researchers believe that many advantages provided by enzyme/QDs biosensors as well as emerging approaches and technologies improving the assays operation can lead to the development of enzyme/QDs kits for real application in the future. These biosystems are very universal and can be extended to a range of other useful analytes.
研究不足
The main limitations include the toxicity of waste generated during the assays due to high toxicity of core metals like cadmium or tellurium, the possible reduction of QDs PL after immobilization, and the restrained diffusion of the target-analyte across the solid substrate limiting its access to the QDs surface. Additionally, the shelf-life of solution-based biosensors with non-conjugated enzyme was not specified or estimated, and there are selectivity issues due to complex sample matrices.
