研究目的
To develop a novel rewritable PC paper based on programmable configurations of a synthesized shape memory polymer (SMP) that can be written and copied using NIR light without additional inks, offering superior stability, long-term durability, and excellent reversibility.
研究成果
The novel SMP-based PC paper demonstrates unprecedented capabilities of displaying reversible and multi-stable colors simultaneously without inks, stamps, and photothermal agents. It can be applied in the fields of next-generation office papers, smart price tags, anti-counterfeiting labels, etc., which will decrease the consumption of forests and reduce the damage to ecosystems.
研究不足
The slight color diffusion at the edge of the letters due to the thermal gradient in the film resulted from the high-energy gradient of the laser beam and the manual writing. This issue could be resolved by employing more uniform energy laser or more automated processes.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved the fabrication of SMP-based PC films with inverse opal structures using silica colloidal crystals as templates. The films were programmed by NIR light with assistance from a pre-printed black paper as a photothermal layer.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Monodisperse silica particles were used to self-assemble silica colloidal crystals on flat glass slides. The prepolymer solutions containing styrene, n-butyl acrylate, and divinyl-benzene were cast into the silica templates and polymerized to form PS-co-BA-embedded silica colloidal crystals.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Silica colloidal crystals, prepolymer solutions, UV light for polymerization, NIR laser for programming, and a pre-printed black paper as a photothermal layer.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The SMP-based PC films were compressed and then thermally recovered with different recovery degrees via controlling the heating time. The films were irradiated by NIR light to induce local shape recovery of the periodic microstructures.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The reflection spectra of the PC films were analyzed to determine the color changes and structural recovery. SEM images were used to observe the ordered and disordered states of the inverse opal structures.
