To review the current research status and development of LAMed AMCs, focusing on powder preparation method, microstructure characterization, mechanical properties and strengthening mechanism of AMCs to provide a deeper understanding for LAM technology of AMCs.

LAM breaks through traditional manufacturing methods, effectively preparing high-performance AMC parts with high density, strength, and wear resistance. The review summarizes the merits and demerits of AMCs and proposes existing problems and future research directions, emphasizing the need for further development in LAM technology for AMCs.

1. Difficulty in preparing AMC specimens with high content reinforcement due to agglomeration and formation of unfused defects and micro-cracks. 2. The physical properties of carbon-reinforced AMC specimens prepared by LAM still need further research. 3. Research on AMCs with a variety of reinforcement is critical for optimizing properties. 4. Most researches on AMC were carried out by SLM technology, with LMD technology still in its infancy.
