To design white light electroluminescence with very narrow spectral profiles by combining a blue organoboron TADF emitter and two QDs (red and green) into a common host as a single emissive layer for high resolution full-color flexible displays.

The study demonstrated both rigid and flexible solution-processed hybrid white LEDs composed of narrow bandwidths of an organoboron emitter and two commercially available quantum dots. The dilute quantum dots in a common organic host reduced the dosage of toxic Cd-based quantum dots while preserving their unique optical and electrical performances. The hybrid flexible white LEDs featuring the perfect spectrum with narrow linewidth provide a unique strategy to develop wide color gamut, high-resolution and large area active matrix displays.

The study utilized a host-guest system to construct solution-process white devices, combining a boron-based blue TADF emitter with red and green QDs.

The QDs were composed of CdZnSe core and CdZnS/ZnS shell with oleic acid and trioctylphosphine surface ligands.

Included a modified poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiphene) (m-PEDOT:PSS) as the hole injecting layer, poly[(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(4,4’-(N-(4-sec-butylphenyl)diphenylamine)] (TFB) as the hole transporting layer, and bis[2-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl] ether oxide (DPEPO) as the hole blocking layer.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The devices were constructed with a single emissive layer on both rigid and flexible substrates, followed by evaporation of electron transporting and injecting layers in a vacuum chamber.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The electroluminescent performances were measured with a PR735 SpectraScan Spectroradiometer and a Keithley 2400 source meter unit.
