研究目的
Exploring the deviation in dispersion characteristics of loaded structures with circular cross-section from their parent circular waveguide.
研究成果
The waveguide is inherently a high pass filter with a lower cut-off frequency. Different kinds of loading (metal and/or dielectric) alter the propagation (dispersion) characteristics. Axial periodicity results in periodic dispersion characteristics with lower and upper cut-off frequencies, making the structure bandpass. Dispersion shaping is possible with axial periodicity but not with azimuthal periodicity in all-metal structures. The most sensitive parameters for dispersion shaping and shifting are identified for various structures.
研究不足
The study is limited to theoretical analysis and modeling without experimental validation. The analysis assumes infinitely long waveguides and does not account for practical fabrication constraints or losses.
