To realize enhanced 2 μm mid-infrared laser output from Tm3+-activated glass ceramic microcavities by integrating active ions into Bi2Te4O11 nanocrystals with an intense crystal field.

The study successfully demonstrated high-performance ≈2 μm microcavity laser output in Tm3+-activated tellurate GC microspheres with controllable crystallization of Bi2Te4O11 nanocrystals. The GC microcavities with excellent laser performance may be promising candidates for miniature optoelectronic devices.
研究不足
The study is limited by the difficulty in obtaining microspheres with diameters less than 30 μm due to equipment limitations. Additionally, the optical-optical conversion efficiency could be further improved by optimizing the coupling state between microsphere and taper fiber and their diameters.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A heat-induced nanocrystal-in-glass method was employed to integrate Tm3+ into Bi2Te4O11 nanocrystals.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Precursor glass with a composition of 74TeO2-13Bi2O3-12ZnO-1Tm2O3 (mol%) was prepared.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
High purity TeO2, Bi2O3, ZnO, and Tm2O3 were used as raw materials.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The glass was melted, cast, and heat-treated to form microspheres. Laser properties were analyzed using an optical spectrum analyzer.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The laser output power and Q factors were measured and analyzed.
