Investigating the simultaneous generation of two terahertz (THz) waves with bulk LiNbO3 and four THz waves with periodically poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) by coupled optical parametric generation (COPG).
研究成果
COPG with two types of phase matching can generate two orthogonally polarized THz waves from A1 and E symmetric TO modes with bulk LiNbO3. By compensating the perturbations of phase mismatch via a grating vector, COPG with quasi-phase matching can generate four THz waves with PPLN. The four THz waves can be efficiently generated from COPG with a total photon conversion efficiency of 50.4%.

The scheme has certain disadvantages such as the difficulty in manufacturing a PPLN crystal with a particular angle and the inconvenience in frequency tuning of four THz waves generated by a PPLN crystal.
