研究目的
To discuss the safety and considerations of diagnostic imaging during pregnancy, including the risks and benefits of various imaging modalities and contrast materials.
研究成果
Deterministic effects are negligible at any gestational age for low-risk examinations. The risks and benefits of MR are the same as without pregnancy. CT contrast is safe to use, but MR contrast be used only if necessary. There is no need to stop breastfeeding, except with the use of nuclear medicine agents. Although many imaging examinations are considered safe in pregnancy, elective imaging should be delayed and informed discussion among patient, radiologist, and medical physicist is often the most optimal course.
研究不足
The paper acknowledges that while many imaging examinations are considered safe in pregnancy, there are situations where the decision-making falls primarily on the physician and patient on a case-by-case basis, emphasizing the importance of understanding the real and not perceived risks of medical imaging.
