The proposed signal processing flow with the dedicated radar processing unit (SPU) shows that an execution time sufficient for automated driving applications with reasonable computations, memory and power consumption is achievable.

The technical and application constraints include the limited resources of embedded microcontrollers for performing the signal processing required by high-resolution radar, and the necessity for fast communication between microcontrollers to keep processing latency small.
