研究目的
To describe a switch-based control strategy implemented on a proof-of-concept version of the Magnetic Suspension Mass Comparator (MSMC) for improved measurements.
研究成果
The switch-based control scheme stabilizes the location of the mass in free-space and lowers the standard deviation of the indicated mass reading compared to previous control efforts. This improvement is expected to enhance the accuracy of mass comparisons between artifacts held in air and vacuum.
研究不足
The environmental conditions in the proof-of-concept system are not as tightly controlled as in the MSMC, which may affect the standard deviation of the mass stabilization. Additionally, the resolution of the proof-of-concept balance is limited to 100 μg.
