研究目的
To identify the salient features of the adsorption of water molecules from a humid gas on the surface of a film of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (CdSNPs) and explore the variation in the electrical conductivity of a film of CdSNPs with the variation in the flowrate of a humid gas, which can lead to the development of a humidity or a flowrate sensor.
研究成果
The study reveals that the adsorption of water molecules from a humid gas on a film of n-type semiconductor nanoparticles can form a space charge layer owing to the ionization of the adsorbed molecules, leading to a variation in the electrical conductance of the film. The results can be of significance in the development of nanoparticle-based sensors to measure humidity or flowrate of the gases or vapors.
研究不足
The study was performed at room temperature, and at lower temperatures (less than 12 ?C), water molecules condensed on the sensor surface leading to ~8% fluctuations in the sensor response after 4–5 times of reuse.
