To address the challenge of obtaining high ?uorine content copolymer-based ?bers with considerable uniformity for their applications in sensor devices, and to present a high ?uorine content platinum porphyrin-grafted poly(isobutyl methacrylate-co-dodeca?uoroheptyl methacrylate) copolymers (PtTFPP-p(IBM-co-DFHMA)) micro?brous thin-?lms used as optical oxygen sensors.

The PtTFPP-p(IBM-co-DFHMA) micro?brous sensing ?lms exhibited exceptional sensitivity enhancement, with 584% higher sensitivity than the solid sensing ?lm, due to large speci?c surface area and oxygen di?usion enhancement by ?uorine elements. The micro?ber sensing ?lms facilitated convenient visualization of pressure distributions, making them suitable for computational ?uid dynamics simulations. The ?uorine-containing copolymers ?bers provide a new strategy for the design of high performance gas sensor devices.

The study faced challenges in obtaining ?uorinated polymers’ ?bers when the DFHMA fraction is over 70 wt% in the copolymers. Additionally, the initial dissolved oxygen concentrations were relatively higher than the standard value, possibly due to environmental temperature and atmosphere oxygen effects.
