研究目的
To describe the first case of extensive macular atrophy with pseudodrusen (EMAP) imaged with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and its implications for understanding the role of pseudodrusen and choriocapillaris compromise in the pathogenesis of AMD.
研究成果
EMAP is a rare clinical entity that may represent a new extreme phenotype of macular degenerations. OCTA imaging revealed marked absence of choriocapillaris flow, suggesting a role for choriocapillaris compromise in the pathogenesis of EMAP. Further studies are needed to explore the relationship between pseudodrusen, choriocapillaris compromise, and AMD.
研究不足
The study is limited by its case report design, which does not allow for generalization of findings. Additionally, the role of pseudodrusen and choriocapillaris compromise in EMAP pathogenesis requires further investigation.
