研究目的
To address the global problem of arsenic as a heavy metal dissolved in groundwater blocking access to potable water supply to many vulnerable residents by developing a sustainable, cost-effective solution using solar energy for water purification in rural areas.
研究成果
The study concludes that solar distillation using a solar still is an effective method for removing arsenic and other contaminants from groundwater, making it potable according to WHO standards. The system is sustainable, cost-effective, and does not require electricity or skilled labor, making it suitable for rural areas. However, post-treatment addition of essential salts is necessary to meet drinking water quality standards.
研究不足
The study does not detail the long-term durability and maintenance requirements of the solar still system in varied environmental conditions. Additionally, the scalability of the system for larger communities is not thoroughly explored.
