研究目的
Investigating the selective photocatalytic C-F borylation of polyfluoroarenes by Rh/Ni dual catalysis to provide valuable fluorinated arylboronate esters.
研究成果
The study concludes that the photocatalytic borylation of fluoroarenes via C-F bond activation is highly efficient and selective under visible light irradiation at room temperature, facilitated by the long-lived triplet excited state of the Rh biphenyl complex. This method provides a significant improvement over thermal borylation processes, especially for mono- and difluorobenzenes.
研究不足
The study notes that direct irradiation of the intermediary C-F bond oxidative addition product leads to fast decomposition when B2pin2 is present, which is a limitation that was bypassed by indirect excitation via the photoexcited rhodium biphenyl complex. The efficiency of the reaction is also influenced by the presence of CsF, although it is not absolutely required.
