To synthesize and characterize graphene/TiO2 composites using different titanium alkoxide precursors and evaluate their photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of methylene blue under UV irradiation.

The study successfully synthesized graphene/TiO2 composites with different titanium alkoxide precursors. The sample GTNB showed the best photocatalytic activity for methylene blue degradation. The enhanced activity is attributed to the strong coupling between TiO2 and graphene, which inhibits electron-hole recombination and promotes dye degradation.

The BET surface area of the composites was much lower than that of graphenes, indicating potential issues with TiO2 particle agglomeration and reduced adsorption ability. The presence of impure elements in some samples may affect the photocatalytic performance.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Sol-gel technique was used to synthesize graphene/TiO2 composites with different titanium alkoxide precursors (TNB, TIP, TPP).
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Graphene oxide was prepared from graphite using the Hummers-Offeman method. Titanium alkoxide precursors were dissolved in benzene and mixed with graphene oxide.

Digital sonifer for ultrasonication, SEM (JSM-5200 JOEL), TEM (JEOL, JEM-2010), XRD (Shimatz XD-D1), UV-visible spectrophotometer (Neosys-2000), BET analyzer (Monosorb).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The mixtures were stirred and heat-treated at 973 K for 1 h. The composites were characterized and their photocatalytic activity was evaluated by degrading methylene blue under UV light.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The photocatalytic degradation was analyzed using UV-visible spectroscopy, and the kinetics were studied using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model.
