研究目的
Investigating the therapeutic effects and diagnostic value of F-FDG PET/CT in testicular cancer, particularly in differentiating between benign and malignant scrotal masses, primary staging, and evaluating residual masses after chemotherapy.
研究成果
F-FDG PET/CT is a valuable tool for differentiating between benign and malignant scrotal masses and has a good negative predictive value in primary staging of testicular germ cell tumors. It is recommended for the follow-up of seminomas but not for non-seminomas due to its similar sensitivity and specificity to conventional restaging methods.
研究不足
False negative results can be caused by transitory suppression of tumor cell activity, lesions <10 mm are difficult to detect due to low spatial resolution, and variability of absorption of 18F-FDG in teratoma makes it difficult to distinguish between necrosis and fibrosis areas. False positive results can occur due to inflammatory or granulomatous tissue.
