研究目的
To find a suitable compound of doped zinc ferrichromite as photocatalyst for degradation of organic dyes.
研究成果
The sol-gel synthesized Ni and Co substituted zinc ferrichromites are effective catalysts in decolorisation and degradation of methyl orange, methyl red, and congo red under UV irradiation. The activity is due to increased optical absorption and increased life time of charge carriers. These photocatalysts are reusable as there is no major change in their structure after photocatalysis.
研究不足
The study is limited to the degradation of specific dyes (methyl orange, methyl red, and congo red) under UV light. The effect of other environmental factors on photocatalytic activity was not explored.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study utilized a sol-gel auto-combustion method for the synthesis of nanocrystalline Ni and Co doped ferrichromites.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
A.R. grade nitrate salts of Fe, Zn, Cr, Ni, and Co were used for preparation.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
High pressure mercury vapor lamp of 125 W power, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, Smart-Sorb 92/93 surface area and pore volume analyzer.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The photocatalytic activities were tested using anionic dyes such as methyl orange, methyl red, and congo red solutions.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The rate of degradation of dyes was estimated spectro-photometrically from residual concentration in dyes.
