The proposed model, formulated in accordance with the first and second laws of thermodynamics, introduces internal state variables to describe the irreversible dissipation processes of ferroelectric materials. It is capable of describing the polarization hysteresis curve and the relaxation phenomenon in good agreement with experimental data.

The proposed model focuses on the rate-dependent polarization behavior and does not describe the coupling effect between polarization and mechanical deformation, which is an indispensable ingredient in the application of piezoelectric materials.
