研究目的
Investigating the economic viability of battery energy storage (BES) for residential photovoltaics (PVs) under different incentive schemes.
研究成果
The economic viability of integrated PV-BES systems is highly affected by the BES cost and the adopted policy. With current market prices, the installation of BES systems is not generally recommended as it reduces the NPV compared to standalone PV systems. However, as BES costs decrease, the profitability from BES increases, potentially outperforming the NPVs of standalone PV systems. An alternative pNeM scheme is proposed to incentivize the installation of joint PV-BES systems by increasing the prosumer's profit by 15%.
研究不足
The study is limited to the Greek market and assumes specific costs and tariffs. The economic viability of BES systems is highly affected by the BES cost and the adopted policy, which may vary in other regions.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A techno-economic model is developed to assess the economic viability of BES for residential PVs under different incentive schemes. The model uses typical load and generation profiles, electricity prices, and typical PV and BES costs as inputs. An optimization procedure based on an exhaustive search is performed to determine the optimal size of the integrated PV-BES system.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The study assumes typical electricity and system costs for the Greek case, including typical PV system costs and electricity tariffs.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
The study considers PV modules, hybrid inverters, balance of system components, and BES systems.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The economic evaluation process involves calculating the net present value (NPV) of the integrated PV-BES system for different scenarios, including self-consumption schemes and partial net-metering (pNeM) policies.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The analysis includes a parametric analysis for different PV and battery sizes, assuming a battery cost of 200 €/kWh and an investment year of 2018.
