研究目的
To investigate the angiographic, tomographic, and clinical characteristics of idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) in elderly patients.
研究成果
CSC in elderly patients was related to lower resolution of serous detachment, impairment of RPE layers, and worse visual outcome after treatment, suggesting a chronic insult to the choroidal vessels involving more severe damage to the RPE and photoreceptors.
研究不足
Single-center, cross-sectional study that may not represent the overall population. Possibility that this may not be the initial episode of CSC. Results may not reflect the final outcomes of CSC due to minimum 3 months of follow-up data.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Patients were divided into two groups based on age (60 years or older vs. younger than 60) and underwent spectral domain optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography, and indocyanine green angiography.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
176 consecutive patients with idiopathic CSC were recruited from the Retina Clinic of Samsung Medical Center.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Spectral domain optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, and Heidelberg retina angiograph plus OCT were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Patients underwent a complete preoperative evaluation, including BCVA measurement, intraocular pressure, anterior segment by slit lamp, dilated fundus examination, and imaging.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analyses were performed using SAS version 9.4, including chi-square tests, Wilcoxon rank sum tests, and paired t tests.
