研究目的
To evaluate the effect of adenoidectomy on the brains of children with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAS) through observation of the alteration of retinal perfusion by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
研究成果
By improvement of hypoxia, the response of the parafoveal vessel was more sensitive than that of the peripapillary region in children with OSAS. OCTA, as a convenient and noninvasive tool, could be applied to evaluate the influence of an adenoidectomy on children with OSAS.
研究不足
The study did not include blood pressure or the influence of diurnal variation on retinal and choroidal vessels. Neither the onset time of OSAS was determined nor blood serum chemical analysis was performed. No ocular OCTA data are available for normal children for comparison.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study enrolled 62 children with OSAS to analyze their retinal vascular network density indices before and after adenoidectomy using OCTA.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Children diagnosed with OSAS for the first time were examined with OCTA. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select participants.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Zeiss Cirrus 5000-HD-OCT was used for scanning macular OCTA images.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Quantitative measurements of VD, VAD, VSD, VPI on the level of the SCP/DCP, and the size of the FAZ were analyzed and compared before and after the adenoidectomy.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analyses were carried out with SPSS, and p < 0.05 was defined as a statistically significant difference.
