1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Two replicated studies using a 3x2 split-plot design with light intensity (2, 5, or 10 lux) as the main plot factor and flooring type (litter or wire) as the subplot factor. IRT was used to measure surface temperatures of leg regions (hock, shank, foot) pre-mortem, and BCO lesion severity was scored post-mortem.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
720 male Cobb 500 broiler chicks were randomly placed into pens with wood shavings litter or wire flooring. Birds were observed for lameness, and thermal images were taken at specific ages.
