1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
In situ polymerization of aniline with chitosan and/or organically modified clay in HCl medium, followed by characterization using FTIR, XRD, SEM, and DC electrical conductivity. Thin films were prepared by casting onto ITO/glass electrodes for electrochromic property investigation via cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry.

Samples include PAni, PAni-clay, PAni-chitosan, and PAni-chitosan-clay, synthesized with specific weight percentages as detailed in Table 1. Data were acquired from laboratory experiments.

Equipment includes Shimadzu IR-Prestige-21 spectrophotometer for FTIR, Rigaku MiniFlex diffractometer for XRD, JEOL JSM-7401F SEM, Jandel multi-height probe for conductivity, Metrohm Autolab PGSTAT30 potentiostat for electrochemistry, and Hewlett-Packard 8453 spectrophotometer for spectra.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Synthesis involved dissolving aniline in HCl, adding oxidant, and maintaining temperature. Hybrids were prepared by adding clay or chitosan before polymerization. Films were cast from NMP solutions onto ITO/glass, dried, and characterized electrochemically in a three-electrode cell with Pt counter and Ag/AgCl reference electrodes in LiClO4/HClO4 electrolyte.

FTIR and XRD for structural analysis, SEM for morphology, conductivity measurements, cyclic voltammetry for electrochemical behavior, and CIE colorimetry for color changes using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for calculations.
