VO2+ doped SrZn2(PO4)2 nanophosphor was successfully synthesized by solution combustion method, exhibiting monoclinic phase with nano-dimensions and stone-like morphology. Optical and EPR studies confirmed tetragonal compression in octahedral site symmetry for vanadyl ions with partial covalent nature. The material shows blue emission, making it potentially useful for light-emitting diodes and display devices.

The synthesis method may lead to agglomeration of particles as observed in SEM and TEM images, which could affect the material's properties. The study is limited to a specific dopant concentration (0.01 mol% V2O5) and may not explore the full range of doping effects. The luminescence mechanisms are attributed to defects, but further studies might be needed to confirm and optimize these aspects for practical applications.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Solution combustion synthesis was used to prepare VO2+ doped SrZn2(PO4)2 nanophosphors at 550 °C, involving an exothermic reaction between oxidizers and fuel with an O/F ratio of unity for maximum combustion energy.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The sample was synthesized using analytical grade precursors including Strontium nitrate, Zinc nitrate, Di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate, Urea, Vanadium pentoxide, Nitric acid, and deionized water.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Equipment included SHIMADZU XRD-6100 diffractometer for PXRD, ZEISS EVO 18 SEM with Oxford EDS, HITACHI H-7600 TEM, SHIMADZU IRAffinity-1S FT-IR, JASCO V-670 spectrophotometer for UV-Vis absorption, JEOL JES-TE 100 EPR spectrometer, and Horiba Fluromax-4 for PL. Materials were purchased from Merck Chemicals, India.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Precursors were dissolved in deionized water, stirred for 30 minutes, heated in a muffle furnace at 823 K, resulting in a porous material that was ground to obtain the final product.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
XRD data analyzed using Debye-Scherrer's formula and Williamson-Hall plot; EPR and optical data used to calculate crystal field parameters and spin Hamiltonian parameters; PL data analyzed for CIE and CCT using MATLAB.
