  • Tungsten Dichalcogenide Nanoflake/InGaZnO Thin-Film Heterojunction for Photodetector, Inverter, and AC Rectifier Circuits

    摘要: Heterojunction PN diode and inverter circuits are fabricated and presented, combining two-dimensional WSe2 nanoflake and amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) thin film on a glass substrate. A heterojunction p-WSe2/n-IGZO diode exhibits rectifying characteristics and effectively responds to red light (λ = 620 nm) under a reverse bias. The combination of a heterojunction PN diode and IGZO field effect transistor (FET) leads to a diode-load inverter showing a peak voltage gain of about 12 at a supply voltage of 5 V. The same integration from the PN diode and n-FET displays the capability of visible light detection when a reverse-bias voltage is applied to the PN diode. Furthermore, after oxygen plasma treatment on the PN diode, it shows dramatically enhanced on/off rectification ratio of ≈5 × 105 due to the hole doping effect on the WSe2 nanoflake. Such an improved PN diode leads to an alternating current rectifier circuit as integrated with IGZO FET.

  • Control methodology and implementation of a Z-source inverter for a stand-alone photovoltaic-diesel generator-energy storage system microgrid

    摘要: This paper deals with the control and implementation of a bidirectional Z-source inverter for a photovoltaic-diesel generator-energy storage hybrid system. The proposed control strategy is based on the voltage regulation across one of the Z-network capacitor (Vcz), through a buck-boost converter of the storage system side. In some critical situations, where the load power is important, the Vcz voltage regulation is no longer able to ensure the duration of the necessary state shoot-through for the maximum power point tracking achievement. In this context, the diesel generator can therefore be solicited to ensure the shoot-through duration and achieve maximum power point tracking so that it can be used more advantageously without any harmful e?ects on the Z-source inverter operation. The e?ectiveness of the proposed control strategy is evaluated and validated by extensive simulations and experiments.

    摘要: The fast decreasing fossil fuel and emission of carbon dioxide pollution leads the researcher to go with alternative energy resource to utilize the power demand and leads the research in the area of power converters. This research work focused on the maximum utilization of PV systems integrated with quasi z source inverter topology. The z source inverter plays a prominent role in PV fed converter, existing much more topology are derived from z source. A few topologies like quasi z source utilizing less number of passive components. Such topology has copious advantages like, voltage boosting capability, reduced inrush current at startup, which might destroy the devices can be avoided. The research work focus on the design and control strategies of quasi z source inverter with PI and FLC controller. The setup is implemented in Matlab/Simulink and to validate the proposed module a laboratory prototype is modeled and designed with FPGA Spartan 6 with power rated 0.8kW with PV volt of 60V and ac output voltage of 220V.

  • Performance Analysis of Mixed Carrier-pulse Width Modulation Scheme

    摘要: This study deals with the performance analysis of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) scheme for three phase voltage source inverter though intermingling of multiple carriers. The proposed PWM scheme using two groups of carriers (inverted Sine wave and Triangle wave), each group having carrier and its 90° shifted. The arbitrary selection of these carriers is based on the linear feedback shift registers value (‘0’ or ‘1’). This random carrier selection is serving to improve the spectral quality of the output of the inverter. This improved waveform has been derived from third harmonic injected sine PWM technique. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in providing very less harmonic noises with minimum distortion and satisfactory fundamental component. This study also shows the implementation compatibility of the work with Field Programmable Gate Array environment.

A number of reasons such as environmental concerns, electricity business restructuring, the fast developments of small-scale power generation technologies and micro-grid related systems can explain this trend. In order to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of a photovoltaic system, many people are interested in PV inverter perfection, and this is due to the importance of this part in PV systems, it is the interface between produced and used electricity. In this paper we will focus on PV inverters, we will review available transformer-less PV inverters topologies and those topologies will be classified on the basis of applicability for photovoltaic uses.

  • Scalable fabrication of a complementary logic inverter based on MoS <sub/>2</sub> fin-shaped field effect transistors

    摘要: Integration of high performance n-type and p-type field-effect transistors with complementary device operation in the same kind of layered materials is highly desirable for pursuing low power and flexible next-generation electronics. In this work, we have shown a well-mannered growth of MoS2 on a fin-shaped oxide structure and integration of both n-type and p-type MoS2 by using a traditional implantation technique. With the advance of the fin-shaped structure, the maxima and the effective ON current density for the MoS2 fin-shaped field-effect transistors are respectively obtained to be about 50 μA μm?1 (normalized by the circumference of the fin) and around 500 μA μm?1 (only normalized by the fin size), while its ON/OFF ratio is more than 10? with low OFF current of a few pA. Based on our n-type and p-type MoS2 fin-shaped field-effect transistors, the complementary MoS2 inverter with a high DC voltage gain of more than 20 is acquired. Our results provide evidence for complementary 2D material operation in the same materials, a promising avenue for the development of high performance and high-density complementary 2D electronic devices.

  • Modern control scheme for Z-Source inverter based PV power generation systems

    摘要: Z-source inverter (ZSI) based photovoltaic power conversion system (PV-PCS) provides both the DC link voltage boost and DC-AC inversion in single stage with added features. Traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control algorithm generates the required shoot-through interval to output maximum power to the Z-network. At this instant, the voltage across Z-source capacitor is equal to the MPP voltage of PV array. The capacitor voltage cannot be further increased if it is demanded by the load. This paper presents an improved MPPT control algorithm along with modified MPPT algorithm to achieve both the MPPT as well as capacitor voltage control at the same time. Development and implementation of the proposed algorithm has been carried out by Matlab/Simulink software and the results are provided.

  • Research and design of low-power grid-connected PV power generation system based on automatic solar tracking

    摘要: A low-power grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power generation system based on automatic solar tracking is designed in this paper. In order to increase the level of accuracy of automatic solar tracking, the part of automatic solar tracking adopts the method of hybrid tracking and uses pin-cushion two-dimensional position sensitive detector plus four silicon PV cells as the photosensitive element. An adaptive topological structure of the main circuit based on a cascaded Boost converter circuit and the H6-type inverter topology are designed for the system to obtain a better working condition. Then an MPPT algorithm combined modified constant voltage algorithm with modified variable step-size increment conductance algorithm is proposed in order to improve the efficiency of PV power generation. The experimental results showed the effectiveness of the control system. Finally, the hardware and software of the system are also designed. Moreover, a graphic interface made with the LabVIEW software allows the user to monitor and save the data in a file.

    摘要: This paper presents an overview of microinverters used in photovoltaic (PV) applications. Conventional PV string inverters cannot effectively track the optimum maximum power point (MPP) of the PV string due to the series con?guration (especially, under partial shading conditions). In order to tackle this problem, microinverters make each PV panel operate at its own MPP so that the overall ef?ciency can be improved. In this paper, a detailed analysis is carried out among commercially-available microinverters in terms of topological structure and operational principle. Moreover, the latest products on the microinverter market and future trends of the microinverters are discussed in terms of ef?ciency and reliability.

    摘要: This paper presents a single-stage multilevel converter for grid interactive Photovoltaic (PV) system using a Cascaded Two-Level Inverter (CTLI). The converter uses less number of switches, less isolated DC sources and no extra components like capacitors and diodes which are used in conventional multilevel inverters (MLIs). The CTLI based grid tied Photovoltaic system tracks the maximum power produced by the PV array under varying insolation conditions and injects the active power into the grid. Additionally, the PV system is able to perform the reactive power compensation along with harmonics elimination for nonlinear load within the capacity of inverter. These multi-functionality increases overall utilization of the system. The control scheme of the CTLI based grid interactive PV system is developed using instantaneous power (p-q) theory. The control of CTLI based multifunctional grid interactive PV system is verified through MATLAB/Simulink simulations. The simulation results validate the performance of CTLI based grid tied PV system for MPPT as well as active and reactive power control for changing insolation and load conditions.
